A very special hand embroidered Dharaniyo wall hanging from east Kutch region of Gujarat. Traditionally used as a wedding canopy. Silk and cotton threads on cotton with motifs of elephants, birds and flowers plus small mirrors around a circle of female figures. Very good condition. Indigo cotton has been sewn onto the reverse as a backing. The top has a rod pocket for hanging. Large size 150cm wide x 160cm long. Approximately 50/60 years old.
