The ballad of the Banjara bags..... began when I discovered an amazing collection of rare hand-embroidered gypsy dowry bags once used by the nomadic Banjara tribals who are scattered around the countryside of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Inspired by these treasured textiles, I have created a cushion range from these precious  bags which are at least 50 years old. In perfect condition.  All natural dyes, these  intricate embroideries have occasional ornaments of cowrie shells and tiny glass and silver beads. I have used natural linen on the reverse.

Extremely rare and collectable.
